Oregon Coast Adventures

Last week, I took a much-needed day trip out to Cannon Beach and the gorgeous, rocky Oregon coast. I’ve been feeling a little down lately about my cancelled summer travel plans, as I’m sure many of you have, too. But I’ve been trying to view this as a time to explore all the beauty around me right here in Portland and appreciate everything Oregon has to offer. And let me tell you, there is so much to do and see in this incredible state!

I started my day early, leaving Portland first thing in the morning and taking route 6 through the Tillamook Forest. The drive was absolutely stunning, with lush mountain views, winding roads, and mossy roadside waterfalls.

When I reached Tillamook, I headed straight up to Cannon Beach via route 101. I made a quick stop near Oswald West State Park to snap some pictures from the gorgeous Pacific Ocean overlook.

My next stop was the famous-yet-quaint town of Cannon Beach, Oregon. This little town reminded me of a coastal town in New England, with vibrant hydrangeas and beach cottages. Ice cream shops, restaurants, and gift shops lined the streets.

I parked and made my way through the village toward the shore. It was surprisingly crowded for a weekday, so if you’re planning to visit Cannon Beach this summer, please remember to bring a mask!

The beach was more beautiful than you could ever capture on a camera. The misty, rocky coastline stretched as far the eye could see, clear, cold water lapped on the shoreline, and people laughed and splashed in the distance beside the famous Haystack Rock.

After walking and sun-bathing on the gorgeous beach, I made my way back into town and stopped for some fish and chips at a tiny cafe before heading back to Portland.
